Her pawsteps flickered silently through the land. Silver paused, looking thinner then ever as the wind buffeted her dusky grey pelt. She blinked up into the setting sun, sliding forward once more. The only noise was the gentle rustle of grass as the wind swirled the stalks around. Upon reaching the Sun Tree, Silver bounded up the trunk, settiling on one of the larger branches at the top. She gazed down at the Bright Lands. Her home. The place she'd been born and grew up in. The place she'd give her life for. Her ears twitched as she glanced to the left, instinct pushing her out further onto the branch to see better.
She could see a rabbit hopping through the grass. It would pause every few seconds, raising itself up onto it's large hind legs to look around. With easy skill, Silver lowered herself through the branches until she was low, but hidden. Her muscles tensed as the rabbit hopped closer and closer. Finally, it paused just under her. A huge gust of wind slammed through, carrying her scent downward to the rabbit. Silver stiffened as the rabbit dropped back to all four paws, twisting and flickering out of view in a split second. With a yowl, she she-cat dove to the ground after it.
Her paws skimmed across the ground, muscles stretched, pelt rippling. She burst into a small clearing, where the grass never seemed to grow. This was where the rabbits' burrows were. She slowed, cursing under her breath. She'd lost her prey. With a sigh, she turned to return to the tree. Silver froze. In front of her, cowering backwards in the grass, was the rabbit. She stood between the frightened animal and it's hole. Blinking, Silver flattened her ears and stepped aside, flicking her tail. "You made it this far, fella. Go on, then." She waited until the rabbit darted past and down it's burrow before turning and padding back to the tree.
Once there, she bounded nimbly back up into the branches, hanging her paws off the side and yawning sleepily, waiting for a friend to show up.

Frost slid through the forest's undergrowth, pausing to quick sent checks of the surrounding area. She heard a rustle farther along her path and paused, trying to figure out where it was coming from. She then saw a rabbit, alert for predators, picking it's way carefully towards the Sun Tree. Frost settled in a bush waiting, but, the wind changed carrying her sent towards the nimble creature. Suddenly she heard the thud of a cat hitting the ground; Frost pounced up and out of the bushes in time to see a silver she-cat run after the rabbit. Curious, Frost decided to wait and see if the cat came back.
After a while she heard bushes rattle and the she-cat slid through walking gracefully to the Sun Tree. She climbed up and lay up in the tree, relaxing. Frost sat up, determining if she would rather talk to the cat, which in her opinion was a horrible idea, or just pretend she had never seen the cat. But, this was the first cat she had seen in a while… Well, guess that decides it then, I will talk and introduce myself. Frost sighed, It’s not like there are many cats in the Shattered Lands to befriend, besides what’s the worst that could happen.
“Hello, my name is Frost.” She said, in attribute to her name, frostily. Frost walked out into the clearing her muscles rippling and her white pelt shining.

A rustle beneath her alerted Silver to another cat before she slipped out into the clearing. The dusky silver she-cat dug her claws into the bark, slinging her hind legs beneath her and dropping agilely to the ground. She blinked, dipping her head in greeting as the snowy cat spoke, telling Silver her name.
"Hello, Frost. I don't think I've seen you around here..." She cocked her head slightly, ears flicking. "You aren't from the Brightlands." it wasn't a question; no, it was a statement. Silver made a point of knowing every cat that lived in the Brightlands. If Frost was an outsider, that was alright. So long as the white she-cat had never killed one of Silver's friends.
Silver sat down, sweeping her tail around her forepaws. She wondered if Frost had ever fought in one of the battles of the War. The dusky she-cat felt the familiar ache in the scar over her eye. It ached anytime she thought of the war. She wished the whole thing would just vanish. Go away. It could be so simple... the cats could learn to get along, they were just too stubborn! Maybe it would be good if Frost was from the darker places. Maybe if they became friends, the others would see that it would be easy to get along!
"My name is Silver. I'm the leader of the Noble rebellion. We fight with honor," She spoke the familiar trademark line of any Noble rebellion member. The words slipped from her tongue, and then more followed, on a whim, "but it pains me to need to fight. I wish... I wish we didn't have to fight..." She hesitated, lifting her sapphire gaze to Frost's. "Do you fight in the War?"

"Ah, no I'm not from the Bright Lands, but, nothing wrong with that?" Frost says stretching her hind legs one at a time, shaking her pelt as she listens to Silver continue. I've already talked to her more than anyone else I meet, and I haven’t made her hate me, it's a miracle.
Frost sits down wrapping her feathered tail neatly on top of her paws, “The War? No I never participated in the War, I’ve wasn’t in a state to fight in a war, at least not when I arrived here, more specifically, the Shattered Lands.” A miracle… She glances at Silver for a reaction, looking more closely at the sleek silvery white she-cat Frost determines from her soft sapphire eyes and her relaxed posture that she is comfortable here. That this, Silver cat, is content, but, the cat looked in pain for a moment before. If she was in pain, it can’t all be catnip and sunshine.
What is this war that everyone talks about? Frost flicsk her tail thinking for a moment before continuing to speak, “What is the war that you talk about?” curiosity grabs hold of Frost and she ends up saying more about herself to try to provoke the dusky silver cat to speak, “I’m new here I guess you could say, I have only been living on the Shattered Lands for a year…” Frost pauses unsure of how much to say, “I, uh, don’t talk to other cats often.”
Yeah, I don’t talk to them at all, just avoid them, all of them. But, there was that time I walked past a few talking, about some war. I assumed it was territory battles, but maybe it was this war she mentioned. Now what did they say about this war, something about fighting for peace, or… was it against it?
